Disappointing is the only thing I can really say. I've been coming here on and off for the last couple of years and with the most recent switch in management, you can tell they aren't as accommodating to their customers. The servers are delightful but management is where it really shows.
The food tasted great, but the service not so much. The waitress did not check on us very often. When our pizza and wings were delivered we did not have any plates and the server could see that but walked away. We tired of looking at our food so my husband got up and got plates for us. We noticed the same thing happen at another table, my husband got up and got them plates. The other table in our area I noticed went to the bar and got their own drinks and water. It took a long time to get refills on our water and beverages. I remember a time when the server who brought out pizza served a piece to each person before walking away. I hope they can do some training to help have better customer service.
That being said, the food was fine but it can get pricey if you have dietary restrictions. Again, it's disappointing that the customer care from the management seems to have gone on the back burner.
I've been going to *THIS* Green Mill since 2008. There was a time for about a year that I was going three days a week. I love taking my friends here! When they began remodeling I was concerned because I thought they were going to try to be buffalo wild wings, Champs, or any number of sports bars. The reality is that, even though they have added a dozen TVs to the place (and I hate all of them), the remodeling is very tasteful and comfortable and the TVs are far less distracting than they could be. Overall, I think it may actually be an improvement. The food I regularly get (Peking Zing boneless wings and blue cheese) is exactly the way it has always been: delicious. I love this place and will continue to be a regular patron.
I asked for a simple discount ($1 or $2) for taking two meats off my order and they wouldn't. In other restaurants they understand the idea of, if you pay to put meat on, then we can discount when it comes off. As a vegitarian, I feel a bit taken aback by the lack of consideration. I would have liked it if the manager would have talked to me. Especially since it was slow and the time could have been spared.
I love their wings and pasta. It's a good place to watch the football game with sound. They took great care of us on veteran's day when we got a free lunch, and they still gave us a free bottle of wine with their Autumn pasta special. It's very kid friendly and the servers were so patient with us chasing an energetic toddler around.
The wait staff was wonderful: friendly, attentive and accurate. Walleye fingers (Happy Hour priced appetizer) came with a house tartar sauce that was amazing. Apple Baby Kale Salad was fresh and tasty. Just $3.99 each for tall wedges of cheesecake or chocolate layer cake. So good!
