If you care about your animal, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. There are so many issues with the grooming center. I took my puppy in for her first groom last night. The staff was aware that this was her first hair cut besides trimming around her face. They gave me a time frame of 3-4 hours. I called after about 2.5 hours and asked if I should come back in that time frame or if I would get a call when she was done. The girl on the phone asked for my dog's name and asked the groomer when she would be ready. I could hear the groomer, Becca, in the background quickly saying "Just tell her we'll call her. Just tell her we'll call her." Not even 15 minutes later, Becca calls me and says "I wanted to let you know that Gigi is all done, there is a small tear on her leg but we took her to the Banfield Hospital and they glued it together so I'm sorry about that. I would just recommend that you practice being still with her at home because she was really wiggly." Issue #1: I was not called IMMEDIATELY when they injured my dog. Issue #2: I called less than 15 minutes before I got the call that she was ready to go and I know she was injured well before that. They just didn't have their story straight when I called. Isse #3: Becca basically put the blame on me because my 6 month old puppy was wiggly at her first grooming appointment. She as the groomer, should be trained to handle a dog that is moving around. If she is unable to groom the dog without injuring it, she should either try to get some help from one of the other staff members, or call the owner and say that she can't groom the dog because she might cut it. I would have much rather my dog come home with long hair than a deep cut that had to be glued together. I got there about 5 minutes after I got the call that she was done. When I walked in, I told them I was there to pick up Gigi, I was handed an invoice and told to go pay at the registers and then come back and pick her up. Issue #4: I witnessed a lot of people picking up their dogs when I dropped Gigi off. No one was told to go pay before they even saw their dog. They just didn't want me to see the gash in her leg. I said "Where is my dog? I'm not happy and I need to see my dog." Becca then comes to the front with Gigi and shows me her leg and says "Yeah sorry about that." Meanwhile, Gigi is shaking uncontrollably. I take her and my invoice and walk to the registers. I unfold the invoice to see that they are still charging me $47 for the grooming. They removed $17 for her nail trimming and tooth brushing. Issue #5: If you injure someones dog, they should not have to pay a dime. I went to the register and asked for a manager. The manager's name was Christina. When I voiced my concerns, she told me "Well they already took $17 off." I told her that $17 is nothing, I should not be required to pay for someone to slice my dog open. She then responded with "Well it is about 30% and we did pay for her vet bill." To which I replied "Of course you did. Why would I pay the vet bill when you are the ones that hurt my dog?" She then looked at the girl cashiering and said "Just forget it" and rolled her eyes and looked at me and said "Merry Christmas." I am so unbelievably disappointed in the management and grooming staff at Petsmart. The entire situation was handled so poorly, hopefully some change in employment is made for these two.
I wish I would have read the reviews before I took my three dogs to the pethotel. Within 2 days of being there one of my dogs has a slipped disc and is totally lame in back legs. When I dropped her off she was a very happy spunky dog, now she can't walk. They assured me three times that she would go for two short potty walks. The rest of the time she would be resting in her room. Well she got hurt in a playroom, which I made clear and was reassured that she would not be in a playroom. One of the other dogs sounds like she was choked. I thought PetSmart would be a trustworthy place. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
Love this store! Always has what I'm looking for and very friendly.
PetSmarts are the best one stop shops around. Huge place, everything you could want or need and pretty easy going except for the occasional hard sell for puppy classes. With grooming and Banfield pet hospitals built in on location it makes things very convenient. If it's lacking anything it's the more personal experience one finds in a long term vet, or small hometown pet shop. A balance of the two is likely best.
Great store for pets. I love coming here with my puppy because he loves going through the toy and treats isles. Plus they have great customer service.
